We found this place by fate and accident.

In 2016, we went to Albuquerque for Balloon Fiesta and found that we had time to explore surrounding areas. With a "just in case" brochure in hand, we headed to Abiquiu for the annual Artist's Studio Tour. We took a "wrong turn" and ran into Ann McDaniel of Abiquiu Realty. Upon noticing that there is a lake nearby, we set up an appointment to look at some properties. The rest, as they say, is history. We fell in love with the first place we saw and started the ball rolling to purchase the 10 acres of undeveloped, high desert property. 

How was it fate? A year later, we were scrolling through vacation photos and saw what you see below. Cindy took that photo as we were flying into Albuquerque from Denver. Abiquiu Lake! Who'dathunkit??
