About Us

Lake View Domes is a small, LGTQAI+‑run retreat created for travelers who crave quiet, beauty, and a deeper connection to the land. Marie and Cindy fell in love with Abiquiu’s wide horizons, still mornings, and the way the light moves across the mesas — and built the domes so others could experience that same sense of calm.

You may also meet Zia, their lovable mixed‑breed dog and unofficial greeter. She’s gentle, friendly, and always hopeful that a guest might offer a treat or an ear‑rub. Zia loves people, respects boundaries, and adds a little extra joy to the property for those who enjoy canine company.

History

They found this place by fate and accident.

In 2016, Marie and Cindy, then living in Florida, visited Albuquerque for Balloon Fiesta. With some extra time, they decided to explore surrounding areas and headed to Abiquiu for the annual Artist’s Studio Tour.

With the spark of an idea Marie and Cindy fell in love with the land and purchased 10 acres of undeveloped, high desert property.

Marie and Cindy built Lake View Homes, doing much of the work themselves. Today, they live in the main dome on the property and share their paradise with guests in the minnedome. Marie as the main caretaker of the property, bakes the chocolate chip cookies that greet every guest, provides massage services, and ensures every guest is able to enjoy the magic of Abiquiu.
